Atlanta apartment rentals on MARTA

An apartment complex developed near major highways and surface streets makes commuting convenient. This convenience may bring traffic, noise and pollution. While you may be near work, traffic can add significant travel time to the daily drive. Consider the alternative, public transportation. JAMCO apartment communities in Fulton, Dekalb, Clayton and Cobb Counties are situated with MARTA train and bus lines or Xpress bus services right outside their doors, so you can save time and gas!

Certainly, the view from a third floor balcony is impressive, but what about carrying all those groceries upstairs? Maybe the 1st floor walk up apartment is more convenient, but what about the neighbors above? Be practical and consider your wants and needs. You might not do tons of shopping and the top floor is for you. Likewise, having good neighbors above can make you feel more secure.

Take your time. Visit the property at different times of day. Consider your needs. Talk to current tenants. The right apartment home is waiting for you and a range of Atlanta townhomes and apartments for rent are available from JAMCO.

Spring (cleaning) comes early to Atlanta

Stratford Arms Apartments knows spring is just around the corner (hopefully). The American Cleaning Institute found that 62 percent of people engage in spring cleaning. The top three priorities are the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. This year, spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a long, dreaded process. Follow these quick tips to get your house clean in no time.

Bedroom DustApartment home cleaning products

  • Skip the feather duster – it just spreads dust around. When you dust, work from the top down.
  • Cut back on dust by making sure your vacuum cleaner bags and filters are clean and in good working order. That will keep dust and debris from being blown out into the air as you vacuum.

Kitchen

  • Use steam to clean the inside of the microwave. Bring two cups of water to a boil in the microwave, keep the door closed and let the water sit for a few minutes. The steam loosens dried-on food particles, making it easier to wipe them away.
  • Don’t forget to clean the outside of the refrigerator and freezer. Clear off the clutter of notes, coupons and photos, and then clean the doors, handles and seals.

Bathroom

  • Clean the tub and shower with a foaming cleanser that does most of the work for you, and simply rinse it off. Wash shower curtains and liners according to label instructions.
  • To help prevent soap scum buildup in the future, try switching to a liquid shower gel. Bar soaps have binders that are a primary cause of soapy residue. You can also use a towel to quickly wipe down the tub and faucets after each shower.
  • To discourage mildew, use the bathroom fan during a shower and for about 30 minutes after. You can also use a dehumidifier or open the window.

Must Have Tools

  • Adhesive lint roller – Great for quickly sprucing up fabric and upholstery. You can also use it to remove dust from lamp shades.
  • Baking soda – Helps neutralize odors in sinks, refrigerators, upholstery and carpets.
  • Sponges – Good for removing scuff marks and smudges from walls and furniture

Moving Tips

Relocating to a new place is both exciting and stressful. Deciding where everything goes and planning the layout of your new apartment or house is fun, but a lot of labor goes into packing and moving. Plan ahead to limit your headaches. Then use the following guidelines on moving day.

7 Moving Day Tips

  1. Move on a weekday when leasing offices, banks, utilities, and government offices are open. Additionally, truck rentals are more affordable during the week according to U-Haul.
  2. Begin packing as early as 2 months before moving day. Out of season clothing, seasonal decorations, fine china, books, a movie collection… these are all things you can pack early. Having a stack of boxes around for 8 weeks might not sound like a fun, but it will save you so much stress.
  3. Label your boxes by room and general content. If you’ve hired professional movers or if you’ve asked friends to help, this will help them know where things go in your new house or apartment.
  4. Place your plates standing on edge in the box. Wrap each in plenty of paper and pad the bottom of your box. This will help prevent damage to your dishes. For all your boxes be sure to fill the empty space with paper or padding so that they will not collapse.
  5. Pack large items in small boxes and small items in large boxes. Heavy large items will fall through the center of a large box and small light items can be safely stacked in larger boxes. The exception is books. Heavy books should be packed in small boxes so you can lift them.
  6. On moving day, leave your pets and small children with a friend. Movers, professional or otherwise are distracted by kids and barking dogs. Plus, this insures the safety of children and pets alike.
  7. Finally, remember the last thing you packed? It’s probably the first thing you want to unpack! You were using it right up to the last-minute because you need it. Maybe it was cleaning supplies, maybe it was bedding, maybe it was a toothbrush… Chances are it was important.
