Online Tools for Decorating your Atlanta Apartment

The 2 bedroom floor plan at Lakeside

Lakeside Apartment Townhomes with spacious 1 and 2 bedroom townhome floor plans.

The internet is loaded with online tools to simplify decorating your Atlanta apartment. Before you break your back, try clicking around for free and easy to use apartment planners like furniture arrangement and room decorating programs.

A great floor plan is only as good as your furniture layout. Room organization helps to ease movement, to create space and to increase seating in any apartment home. One method to plan your furniture arrangement involves printing a scaled floor plan of your apartment and creating scaled furniture from paper; however, Better Homes and Gardens offers a free online tool. Just select the basic shape of the room you want to decorate and enter the dimensions. Do the same with furniture.

Sherwin Williams also supplies a nice decorating tool called Color Visualizer where apartment dwellers can upload a photo of their Atlanta apartments and try out different paint colors. Other planners include My Decorator and See My Design. These programs involve more work, but you will be rewarded with complete 3-D designs of your room!

New Apartment in Atlanta, Don’t Get Left in the Dark

Before you pack up everything and load the moving van, make sure your next Atlanta apartment rental is move-in ready! Have you remembered to begin utility services in your new apartment home? When it comes to water, gas and electricity don’t get left in the dark.

Hidden Pines at Tara in Jonesboro, GA – water included

Don’t worry if you don’t know which utility companies service your new apartment community. The property manager or leasing agent can provide you with a list of the providers in the area. Gas, water and electricity may not have any options, but you could have a selection for telephone, internet and television.

Apartment homes like the ones of Hidden Pines at Tara come with water included, but usually electricity, gas and other utilities are not part of the rent. Check your lease or ask your leasing agent what features are included in your rent.

If you are moving existing service from one location to your Atlanta apartment, the utility company should make the switchover quite easy. Beginning new service may require a credit check and/or a security deposit. Visit the utility company’s website or contact their toll-free phone number for information.

Organize Your Atlanta Apartment

Is there anything as influential as the space you surround yourself with? Your Atlanta apartment plays a major role in how you relax. Design your apartment home to prevent clutter from negatively affecting your mental wellbeing. Life isn’t always orderly when you have to work, feed the kids, walk the dog, clean the kitty litter, do the shopping, cook, clean… the list goes on and on no matter your lifestyle.

The second bedroom at Bradford Ridge Apartments

Placing a child’s bed in the corner creates a convenient place to store toys.

The phrase, “out of sight, out of mind,” leaps out. Small furniture positioned in the corner of your apartment will create a great hiding spot. Ottomans and coffee tables with hidden storage are a stylish fix to keep items in your living room hidden.

Baskets made from natural materials are another way to bring order and beauty into your Atlanta apartment. These are easy to slide under the bed in the bedroom or they fit on the bookshelf in the home office. Personalize and label the compartments to easily find all your accessories.

Open shelving gives the illusion of extra space, but this decorating trick can expose your items to excessive dust. Nice fabric is cheap and can make a great cover for storage in the bathroom. Also, portable laundry baskets like the ones from IKEA can keep your apartment’s bathroom neat and clean.

Be creative in your Atlanta apartment rental to keep your home and mind clutter free. Spacious apartments for rent in Atlanta are now leasing at all JAMCO properties.

Apartment Fire Prevention and Safety

Last year the American Red Cross aided in over 74,000 disasters throughout the U.S. and 93% of those incidents were fire related. Home and apartment fires are the most common disaster across the country and in metro Atlanta. Most Atlanta apartment fires begin in the kitchen. 9 times out of 10, unattended cooking is the cause. Review the Red Cross guidelines for fire prevention in the kitchen.

The Red Cross suggests every apartment resident create a home fire plan to save you, your loved ones and/or your pets. Practicing your escape in case of a fire is important for safety.

JAMCO Properties, Inc. maintains prevention plans at each of their apartment communities. Residents can access these plans in the JAMCO Resident Handbook. All of the apartment homes are equipped with fire extinguishers and smoke detectors (we recommend testing smoke detectors monthly).

Remember, if a fire occurs in your Atlanta apartment: Get Out, Stay Out and Call for Help.
